The artist has given the complete sum of his £25k honor cash to the trust for venues, which operates to protect the UK's independent concert spaces.

The star was given the prize on 16 October as his new release People Watching was declared the outstanding release of the last 12 months.

Fender has decided to hand the money over to the trust, in appreciation of the crucial part local spots played in his initial steps.

"As an artist would not have achieved this success if it hadn't been for all the shows I did around the North East, and beyond, when I was starting out," remarked the artist. "These venues are legendary, but they are facing challenges."

Beginning in 2023, at least 150 of these spaces have permanently closed – about one-sixth of the whole industry in the UK.

Recently, well-known musicians like Pulp, Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Sheeran have all supported the trust in its efforts to support the industry, by applying a minor surcharge to their ticket costs, which supports local stages.

Fender also participated, raising more than £100,000 on his recent tour to assist numerous grassroots venues across England, Scotland, and Wales.

The donation helped locations that were dealing with potential shutdown due to issues arising from water damage, blazes and bereavements, as well as regulatory hurdles, court cases and sound issues.

Other venues obtained monetary aid in improving facilities and sound and lighting systems that directly benefitted performers and fans.

"The notion that funds from performances in large arenas backs the smaller venues, where it all starts for performers like me, is just logical," Sam Fender has said.

The musician is among several artists to contribute his honor funds to worthy causes.

Back when they won the award in the year 1996 for their record their work, vocalist the singer stated that the group would donate their prize money to the charity War Child.

In 2002, rapper and singer Ms Dynamite divided her prize between a few charities, such as the NSPCC and a Sickle Cell organization.

"I also donated a grand to my local community centre, to their gymnastics class, because I trained in gymnastics when I was growing up and they required better apparatus," Ms Dynamite told the media.

In recent years, the band contributed their funds to the local youth club that developed their group, alongside other local music groups.

And 1994 winners the group donated their award to a MS organization after a friend was identified with the disease.

"The victory was ample," stated artist the singer. "The money was the extra but we didn't require the cherry, because we had the main prize. So our success impacted another person's life."

Recently, the Music Venues Trust revealed it had protected several grassroots venues in the South East, by placing them under public stewardship.

The Joiners in that area and the other in Bristol were acquired under the community ownership scheme, which is supported by a national body and enthusiasts who purchase "stakes" in the properties.
